The Moscow Cat Theater has been around since the 1970′s- maybe you’ve seen it? Yurii Kuklachev, the creator of the theater, has over a hundred cats and incorporates dozens of them into each of his shows. The video below provides some history on the theater and some clips from actual shows. Some questions to think about:
-how is this cat theater similar/ different from bigger circuses?
-how well are the cats taken care of by their owner?
-what are the travel conditions in which these cats go from one country to the next for performances?
-how long are the working hours for the cats? (performance time AND training time)
-what methods are used for training these animals?
-do you feel the cats are being exploited?
As with every case, it’s hard to say what goes on behind closed doors. But what do you think: is this something you would pay money to see?
those poor cats! this is horribly inhumane. i can’t even imagine what goes on behind the scenes.. ie: what we aren’t seeing in a youtube video attempting to portray this in a positive light.
the guy looks like like a cat serial killer
did you see the cat’s tail get stuck in the door when the owner pushed him into the carrying case?! the backstage looks a little chaotic with all of those cats in those cases and people running around…..
